Jesús Montero
About Me
I first worked with Jesus on HOW WE USED TO LIVE: A Giant In Ancient Egypt for Transatlantic Films in 2001. It was a complex drama doc and Jesus was the lynchpin of it. He arranged all the castings, tricky locations (including National Trust properties and Egyptian ancient monuments), assembled set designers, make-up artists & wig creators, chaperoned child actors and was even the script editor. In the middle of it all came the 9/11 attack but even through that he kept the project on course and on budget.
It was only natural then that I should recruit him to be 1st AD on my feature film for Discovery Studios/ The Weinstein Company - Meerkat Manor: The Story Begins. This entailed him heading off for three exhausting months of location work and field directing in the Kalahari desert where I relied on him to deliver the creative brief. His dedication to the task was nothing short of astounding. He never complained (even when injured) but maintained meticulous attention to detail and remained cheerful and optimistic whilst carrying enormous responsibility. He was adored by the crew who quickly came to depend upon him. He drew up storyboards and worked closely with wildlife scientists to ensure we got the most remarkable scenes in the can.
Jesus is without doubt one of the most multi-talented and skilful people I have worked with. He is thoughtful, has excellent judgement and when he commits to a project you know that commitment is 100%. You can trust him to work autonomously, safe in the knowledge that he will accept and overcome any challenge that comes his way and as if that weren't enough he is one of the kindest and most genuine people you will ever meet.
